Love it! You are always very welcome to repost with attribution. BTW, please send me your mailing address! I have a copy of Little Perfections to mail to you!
HI! I'm new here, and wants to congratulate you on your book, Little Perfections. I've yet to pre-order, but will do so. I am SARIFAH, a fellow Singaporean living in Los Angeles. Bummed that you have not an LA date for your book launch. Would you consider stopping by in our local independent bookstores, especially to Pages, A Bookstore in Manhattan Beach, or The Book Jewel in Westchester (close to LAX) or Kitchen Lingo Books in Long Beach. All amazing local run bookstores, and you might even get me to bake Pandan Chiffon Cake for your meet and greet! We look forward to a positive response! Best, Sarifah Renton
Hi Sarifah, thank you for writing! I'd love to swing by LA, but I didn't have any bookstores in mind. I'll reach out to these folks now, and if you have connections to any of them, please let me know!
Absolutely, I was at Pages this am and they told me that on their website is a form that you can request, and email to their owner, jeff@pagesabookstore.com as well. As for Jewel, they were closed today. But with similar website request form. Kitchen Lingo's contact is Matt Miller, whom I met early last year. He has an amazing collection of vintage cookbooks. Another LA local located at Chinatown LA is Now Serving, helmed by Ken Concepcion. Also, reach out to Club Singaporean LA/OC and Malaysian Asso of Southern California, which the latter has a more active presence, when you confirm dates for LA. I am not a member of either. And lastly blast your event announcement to the USC Singapore Students Asso. and Singapore Connect. Good Luck! - SR PS: Khir Johari is our dear friend!
Thank you. This is exactly what I was hoping would come through, but it’s one of those things I can’t quite write down, and have to write around for now… Thank you for reading!
posted that paragraph (about eating evolving faster than cooking) at my tumblr, with credit and link.
hope that's ok. a really nice mini essay, this.
